Happy New Year to our Dark Company Family!
Hope 2015 was a great year for you--and that 2016 will be even better. For us, this last year was both rewarding and challenging. We finished our initial edit of Dark Company early last year--and showed rough cuts to some smart people who had no previous knowledge of the film to get their feedback. We cut some more and locked picture a few months later--the movie is beautiful, thrilling and brilliantly acted... if we do say so ourselves. With editing finished, our colorist did his thing--and the shadows and pops of vibrant color really are mesmerizing. Then we had to save up a little for post sound. Now our sound person is chugging along, and we're working on finding visual effects artists. Josh is working on the final score. He's had some physical set backs with his hands, but he's super excited about finishing the music. It's going to be as haunting and gorgeous as you'd expect. Thanks for all your support and love. Sorry this message comes so much later than we intended. We're looking forward to 2016 being the year Dark Company is released to the public! Much love, Ostrich Colony Films It’s been a busy summer over here at Ostrich Colony Films.
We’ve been busy editing away at DARK COMPANY—and it’s shaping into something unique and special (we really can’t wait for you—or us for that matter—to see the finished film). The performances are really amazing all around. We couldn’t have asked for a better cast. And the film looks beautiful. We’ve edited all but three of the chapters—and we’re about 2/3 of the way through the longest chapter, “There’s A Situation.” We’ve been working on this project for 5 years and we can see the finish line! Thank you for your support and continued interest in our project! Ostrich Colony Films Well, it's been awhile. I figured it was way past time for a new update. Way back at the end of February we wrapped the largest chunk of our shooting. It went really well—we worked with an amazing cast and crew, and filmed at some really cool locations. Some of our locations: a magic theater in Santa Monica, an industrial loft in the LA garment district, an Italian restaurant in Ontario and an old apartment in West Hollywood. Since then, we've been hard at work on editing. It's slow going (day jobs keep the food on the table, right?) but every stolen moment working on this movie is very rewarding. Without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to the newest additions to our stellar cast: Tyler Clément as JOE Michael Brouillet as VICTOR Katherine Macanufo as MAGGIE
Hey everyone! I want to start off by saying that this update is long overdue and let everyone know that we are hard at work on our feature film "Dark Company." The last couple months we’ve been shooting off and on, making great progress (and working with amazing people). Let me introduce you to some of the new additions to our talented cast: Lauren Weinberger as BIANCA Mike Hyland as STAN Jamie Nieto as DETECTIVE REYNOLDS Ellis Greer as BOSS’ EX-WIFE We are holding one last audition next weekend to finish up casting, we’re shooting the final chapters in February and March and then we'll start the post-production phase of our project. We want to thank all of you for the continued support! Josh Johnson Christopher Kyle Kelley Cindy Gray Oh, and enjoy some stills from our recent shoots! Check out The Fashion Focus' new video directed by our own Josh Johnson and shot by our frequent collaborator Andrew Hwang. Hey everyone, Here's an update on "Dark Company:" over the July 4th weekend we shot one of the new chapters - "Secrets, Souls & Photographs" - featuring the wonderfully talented Lynne Marie-Beard and Astrid Vineyard. It was a great shoot and I want to thank all the amazing people who helped make it possible. In two weeks we will be shooting another chapter, "Personal Business" - featuring Peter McGlynn, Adam Epstein and Paul Becker. We are currently in crazy production mode getting everything ready for this sunrise shoot. We are really excited and think this chapter will turn out great!
Thanks again! Christopher Kyle Kelley Wow! We made our goal and raised over $10,000 on Indiegogo for our film “Dark Company.” We are so grateful and thankful for the support and love of our friends and family. 48 days - and innumerable status updates – later, we’re a little tired, but very, very excited to begin filming again.
We’ll be shooting two chapters of our anthology film this summer and then four more this fall. We’ve set aside the winter for post-production – editing, sound design, music, effects and color. If all goes well, “Dark Company” should be finished by late spring, early summer. Although most of the perks won’t be ready to be sent out until after the film is completed, contributors can look forward to receiving personalized postcards in their mail over the next few weeks. This has been an incredible experience for us at Ostrich Colony Films. We’re very humbled by the generosity of our supporters. Thank you so much, Josh Johnson Christopher Kyle Kelley Cindy Gray Hey everyone! We're so excited that our upcoming film "Dark Company" was featured on Indiereign.com as Project of the day.
